You might get some SEO tidbits you didn’t know…

MarketingPilgrim just blogged “The Ultimate Internet Marketing Article”. A number of good tips, so worth the read. I really appreciated the good list of directories to submit to.

Great advice on Geotargeting. I recently landed two jobs that require it and am happy for all the tips I can get… All the SEO I have done prior to now has been to a global market so I haven’t had to worry about that much.

4 Website Optimization tidbits

While reviewing SEOEggHead’s 21 Great SEO Tips from Google’s Matt Cutts post (which is a must read for any self-respecting SEO) - I came across some tips that I realize I’ll need to go back into some older sites and implement.  Maybe you can make use of them too.

 1. If you are using Flash, make sure you have an HTML version of the same page available.  Also, block the flash version from spiders with a robots.txt file.  Now, call me a newbie but I wouldn’t have thought of the robots.txt file.  I’m happy to know that.

 2. According to Vanessa Fox from the SiteMaps team - hyphens are better then underscores in page URL’s.

3. Don’t break up your content too much.  Longer more content filled pages are better for both the users and the spiders

4. More then once we’re advised that if we sell links, Google is likely to spot them and give them less importance.  I’m thinking we might do well to rethink our advertising pages and remove obvious text indicators.

Innovative SEO Site Counter Launch by Killer-Content.com

Killer-Content.com presents its own free Counters.

Reston, VA, September 09, 2006 –(PR.COM)– Killer-Content.com, a company offering content writing and online promotion services, has announced the launch of its own web counter. The counter comes in two versions, standard and advanced, and offers some unique opportunities that have not been available up to now in the web counter market.

While the standard version looks pretty much like many other counters we have seen so far, the advanced version is a real breakthrough. The advanced version of Killer-Content.com’s counter is actually an SEO counter. It can display such SEO-related data as the number of backlinks of a site, its Google PageRank, its Deep Link Ratio, etc. But this is not the only innovation introduced by this counter. Killer-Content.com’s SEO counter is the first and only existing counter in the market where the users can select what data will be displayed on their pages when they install the counter.

Both versions of counter are offered free of charge. The installation process is well-documented and intuitive. Killer-Content.com’s developers will also answer any questions the counter users might have.

“Killer-Content.com’s standard counter and SEO counter are our new project that we find really exciting and promising and plan on developing further”, said Julia Smith, the SEO of Killer-Content.com. “We realize that sometimes people just need a regular counter that will display their site’s visitors and page views, and this is why we have the standard version. In the meantime, we wanted to create something that has never been offered before – and this is exactly what our SEO counter is.”
